Because i cover

What do you see when you look at me?
Do you see someone limited or someone free?
All some people can do is look and stare?
Simply because they cant see my hair.
Others think i am "controlled" or uneducated,
they think i am limited or un-liberated.
Are they thankful that they are not me?
Because they think that their lives are free?
Well, free isn't exactly the word i would've used,
Describing women who are "cheated on and abused."
They think that being "covered" isn't my choice
They think that my scarf makes me look caged that my Husband or dad must be totally deranged.
All they do is look at me with fears
But if you look at me you will see my tears...
NOT because i have been stared at or made fun of
but because people are ignoring the "one" up above
on the day of judgement they will be the fools
because they were to embarrassed to live their lives by their own rules.

I can't imagine why anybody would be so upset that you cover . I think it is a beautiful concept that women are so cherished and loved that their men don't want them exposed to the indecent looks others may direct their way. My father use to make us so mad because he was so old fashioned. We couldn't cut our hair or wear short skirts. We could only wear shorts and swimsuits in our own backyard. Of course we rebelled. Years later I realized how much he cherished and protected his women all of us including his 4 grandaughters. I thank God he loved us so much. to cover or not is a person's choice. It is neither creepy nor a sign of abuse. Your poem let's us know that and what is ultimately important, the one above.

A little correction: Life WITHOUT decency is not worth a dime.

Good poem. Good principles. Care not for this globalization and modernization leaving women in the western world abused commodities, topless or bottomless. Life with decency is not worth a dime.

Poetry comes nearer to vital truth than history.

Plato (BC 427-BC 347) Greek philosopher.
