Bitter

Bitter

I'm just
a Bitter Black Man
trying to be a Better Man
cuz I'm Better than the Man
that I began as
In the beginning
I used to think
I thought that the missing link
was a woman
and a suggestive wink
then as fast as a blink
I'd wake up from that dream
This thing I would call being
Bitter at ALL Women
because of the pain
one Woman brought to me
but it was my fault, see...
cuz it was me that
put me through it
I could see the bullshit
still I chose to do it
I knew it was a mistake
when I saw she wouldn't take
me seriously. I seriously became
a Bitter Black Man
Hell, just a Man that's Bitter
I became a quitter
gave up on love
I didn't want to think of
unparalleled love
to last an eternity
it would have to be
"to infinity and beyond"
to come back from where I'd gone
but i finished that journer
and alone I made that ride
ready to give that emotion
called love another try
not worried if I'll cry
a river of tears or not
I'm completely open
hoping, that regardless
of my former bitterness...
I'm taking another swing
but love it hit or miss
I've missed it for some time now
so I guess It's about time now
for me to come around now
and be a Better Man
than the Bitter Black Man
Love once turned me into.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
