    BITTERNESS

    Bitterness, the old passion
Engulfing the mind, soul and body!
    It’s the blight that afflicts
The man that gives it way.
Who has seen the depth of bitterness?
And lived to tell of it?
    Its satisfaction has no end.
Its acrid taste seems sweet to the belly
Its mystery yet to be fathomed.
Acts like a sprite in the spirit of man,
Holding on till he destroys himself.
    The canker creeps in destroying,
    Innumerable lives and destiny
Creating a dirge to be munched
    Rather than it being sung.
    Keeping mute to the grave
    To push up the daisies.
    Bitterness, man’s deadly passion.

Bitterness is sweet at the time since it is wanting revenge but in the end it is death! You are right! nicely done

I don't know when you posted this, but why noone would choose to comment is beyond me. You capture the dichotomy that comes with being one among many within the confines of the planet's "most intelligent" species. Please keep the words and spirit coming.

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
