Poem Commentary

The mere fact that God has always watched over me even when I didn't realize it. I feel a need to bless His name for He is awesome!

Bless the Lord, oh my soul!

Bless the Lord, oh my soul!

Praise be to His Holy name!

Bless the Lord, oh my soul!

Nothing about Him will ever change!

He has loved me since the womb

His love I’ll have until the tomb

My soul shall praise Him til I die

Praise Him til this earth I say goodbye

He has cared for me from day one

He knew in me a work had to be done

Day by day He would mold me

Shaping me into the person I’m to be

Bless the Lord, oh my soul!

Praise be to His Holy name!

Bless the Lord, oh my soul!

Nothing about Him will ever change!

Though on my road away I strayed

He was still there the same he stayed

Disappointed, disgusted & perhaps frustrated

With me cause my life I complicated.

Throughout this Christian walk of mine

I’ve fallen off from time to time

But the Lord says I will never leave or forsake you

And in my heart I know this to be true

Bless the Lord, oh my soul!

Praise be to His Holy name!

Bless the Lord, oh my soul!

Nothing about Him will ever change!

Thanks Slim I appreciate your comments

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
