CHILD

YOUR CHILDHOOD YEARS
ARE NOT GREAT IN NUMBER,
BUT YOU HAVE WITHIN YOU THE WISDOM
OF ANCIENTS AND THE COMPASSION OF SAINTS,
AND I AM IN AWE OF ALL YOU CAN DO
AND BE, AND SEE AND UNDERSTAND.

MY HUMBLENESS ONLY CRACKS
TO LET MY PRIDE IN YOU SHINE.
I AM FOREVER GRATEFUL THAT, FOR ONE SMALL MOMENT,
PART OF YOU HAS BEEN MINE.

This is a brilliant short tribute to this young person... It's very compelling just by it's humble appreciation for them given you know they do not yet possess the luxury of experience in this world from just time itself... Great short write....

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
