Choices

the choices we make decide if we live or break
never knowing which is which, once you make a choice it's done
you can't take it back, no matter how much you wish you could
the right choices lead us to happines others lead us to misery
life is full of choices, we make them everyday
most arent hard, others need not be made hastily
for if you make the wrong choice it can hurt you more than you could ever know

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
