    Circle of Life

    By: Amanda L. Pittman 11/20/08

    Sunshine rises,
    Darkness falls.

    Newborn cry, Sleepless night,
    Upright standing, hold on tight.

    Paper, backpack, then the glue,
How to learn to tie a shoe.

    Caps are sailing, happy day.
    Now to go, far away.

First the ring, say “I do!”
Wedding bells, then “I love yous.”

    Running fast, out of breath.
    Unwelcome news, sad as death.

    Home at last sleeping somber.
    Dismal tears, black and umber.

The bell tolls thrice, not of bliss,
    But for someone surely missed.

    Sunshine rises
    Darkness falls.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
