    Clearer Perspective

wish, as the day coincides with night,
to remember the grandeur of the invisible,
    splendid clash of the gods--
    no more of the uneasiness
    that creepeth unto the soul
    to purify the slow emanation
of the human code we hold so dear.
    The nearness we remember
as time forces our cerebral departure
from the light crossing the bridge of memory
through the sludge of mucky, dark desire:
Up through the bubbling mass of quicksand,
    the eloquence of arrival back
    to our cellular embryonic heritage
    has made us a wiser,
enlightened dancer of the circular realm.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

    Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
