    Confusion -- Ray Martin

    As I meander through the forests of my mind I find
    A lot of things and yet not much at all;
    Only things I’ve seen before and, gosh, I guess, then more,
    So many things I really don’t recall.

    It’s all so mixed and jumbled up I don’t know where to start
    Or if there is a “start” that should be “where’d”.
    And every time I try I find I’m smack dab in the midst
    Of something else ‘bout which I never cared.

    I guess some day when old and gray I’ll get it figured out
    And make it all so linear and tight.
    ‘Till then I guess I’ll just keep on a’wand’rin’ through the fog,
    Then on the day I die I’ll get it right.

    I like this, me and my brother talk like that all the time, when we get it all going, we will have to pass.

    In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

    Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
