Death Above Ground

Death Above Ground

I am walking free in the air alive true
But what is left in me
Where is loves passion
Or even hates blaze
Life under water would be better
To let the sea take me where it will
To stop the pounding in my head
The thoughts that won't stop
I would even take your pain
Better then this numbness
This death above ground
Eheu fugaces labuntur anni *
My path is long, dark and twisted
Have you seen a junkie dead in a bathroom
The needle still hanging from their arm
Have you watched an overdose and saved a life
Or tried and failed? I have, many times.
I have seen them lose their souls
And wondered if it would soon be my turn
Some days I hoped it would be
But my soul refused to abandon me
So I live on always the outsider
Never to be touched or held
Or looked upon with favors smile
Mea maxima culpa
No one else is to blame,I made my choices
Now my debts are paid in blood
Life after life all that I touch dies
Until in the end it will be me alone
As it was in the beginning so it shall be

*(Horace) Alas! our fleeting years pass away.

I think we all are dying in some way, nothing really holds us here, soul or no soul, who decides our fates is it a toss of dice, god having a cruel sense of justice

Very powerful ink,wow!

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
