Poem Commentary

This is the beginning of what I hope might some day be a collaboration with Drifter.

Edge of Forever

Standing on the edge of forever
Jasmine knew her life would never be the same
It wasn't actually life
she was hoping for though
It was death, immortal life
If she took Meridian's hand death would follow
if she didn't Jasmine would grow old without her
Eternal life? Or life without love?
Was there any real choice?
She placed her shaky hand
in Meridian's deathly cold one
and took her last fleeting breath
as Meridian's fangs pierced the
tender pulse that would never beat again

i like this poem and your obviously very talented but i think the vampire thing has been overdone but i like the fact that jasmine realised she couldn't live with out love because thats the truth no one can survive if their hearts are not open to love every one must love or they do not truly live.

I agree Beth the vampire thing has been overdone but I also agree that Jasmine's is more of a love story. A true love story and that is still very much a human thing.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
