    Praying for Rain

My heart is like an empty bucket
left out in the sun to dry
    Whoever put it out
forgot to bring it back in

It is dry now and turned
    several shades of gray
    Time and weather has
    crusted over old wounds

    No one notices the
    poor bucket anymore
    Old and neglected
    it waits patiently

    My heart watches the sky
    it wants dark puffy clouds
    prays for healing rain
    to fill it once more

Good to see you back, latinangel. My bet is the bucket is battered but unbowed, and ready to drink the fulfilling, refreshing rain that will, inevitably, come its way. Your style reaches deeper notes, here, than what I remember. You've achieved a higher level : )

Thank you Chaos I appreciate the feedback

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
