    Eulogy

    Birth into a new world,
    fading light aflame.
Glory Road is bound for light,
binding chains of guilt and shame.
    Love and hatred intertwine,
    the path is hidden now,
and together form a single vine,
    the melting pot is fouled.
Into an abyss falls a flame,
    twisted, ripping pain.
    Darkness' grip relinquishes,
    the fallen shadow slain.
    An unconnected spiraling staircase,
    glass slabs form the steps.
    Climbing at a steady pace,
    crawling from the depths.
Now it unfurls it's wings to fly,
    tasting freedom on it's breath.
    Life swells in it's chest,
    falling free from death.
From on top it looks below,
at the shining crisp clear world,
and with a sad smile it must go on,
and so it leaves this world.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
