EXIT WOUND

Poem Commentary

This poem was written for my beloved Mother 3 years before her passing.

EXIT WOUND

If ever there was a time I could touch

your face, it is now. I'd swim

deep within the blue-gray pools

where god's soul was borne,

to linger a long, long while.

Unsalted tears glisten as dew

renews. Hearts break, longing,

loving and missing all that

still is, anticipating my

inevitable, wretched loss.

Incomprehensible loss.

I-can't-live-without-you loss.

Take-me-instead loss.

I-hate-you-god loss.

Please. Don't make me do this.

It begins when I begin, ends when

you exhale finitely, eyes close softly.

Snuffed effortlessly, irreversibly.

Taking my song, taking my dance,

my breath. Did I say I love you?

Thank you so much...this one was so necessary & so personal...Thanks...

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
