TIME TO TELL ME THE TRUTH, TO BURDEN YOUR MOUTH FOR WHAT YOU SAY. WHILE PIECES OF THE PAIN WARE AWAY, BECAUSE I CAN'T CHOOSE, OPPOSITE SIDES ON WHICH WAY TO FALL AND LOVING YOU LATER IF AT ALL. NO RIGHT MINDS COULD WRONG ME THIS MANY TIMES. MY MEMORY IS CRULE. THE QUEEN OF DETENTION TO DETAILS, DEFENDING INTENTIONS IF HE FAILS. UNTILL NOW HE TOLD ME HER NAME! IT SOUNDED FAMILIAR IN A WAY? I COULD HAVE SWORN I HEARD HIM SAY!!!... IF ONLY HAD I LISTENED! LEAVE UNSAID, UNSPOKEN, EYES WIDESHUT UNOPENED. YOU AND ME WILL ALWAYS BE...TWEEN THE LINES. I THOUGHT I WAS READY TO BLEED. REMOVING THE SHADDOWS ON THE WALL, STAND IN CENTER OF IT ALL. TOO LATE, TWO CHOICES TO STAY ON THE LEAD, MINE WAS SO EASY TO UNCOVER, HE'D ALREADY LEFT WITH THE OTHER??! SO I LEARNED TO LISTEN THROUGH SILENCE. I TELL MYSELF ALL THE WORDS HE SURLEY MENT TO SAY BUT, THAT'S MY IMAGINATION OF GETTING RID OF THE PAIN. TWO WORD UNSPOKEN LEFT MY EYES SHUT NOW OPENED! YOU AND ME WILL ALWAYS BE..TWEEN THE LINES!!!!!!...............

well written, great poem.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
