    For A Very Special Lady

I finally found a lady that makes me feel so fine
All I can really say is I have to make her mine
She knows all the right things to do and say
So I know if we're together everything will be okay

She is so beautiful that I can't see
Just what it is that she sees in me
We've both been down that broken road
We've both been carrying a heavy load

We lightened our load the first night together
Now that load feels light as a feather
She told me the story of how she got here
I let her know there was nothing to fear

    I wasn't like any man she'd known
If she was with me she'd never be alone
I'd stand by her right through it all
Anytime she needed she just had to call

I said all the things she longed to hear
But it seemed to fill her heart with fear
She had heard it all a few times before
And she really thought she knew the score

She thought that I might be full of shit
But she knew in her heart that this was it
This was the man to give her heart to
He'd never break it or make her feel blue

She had feelings inside she never felt before
She didn't know what the future held in store
She needed to know before it got too late
Was he the man that was part of her fate?

She wanted to tell him just how she felt
When she looked at him her heart would just melt
She could tell that he felt the same
This was for real, it was no game

They were destined to be side by side
Wherever he went, she too would ride
This is how I want this story to end
She as his partner, his lover and best friend

You summed it up well, what people go through with trust and rebuilding issues. A very theraputic piece for you as well as others who may read it, one worth going back to once in a while. Some of the rhymes are hard, but add to the sweetness of the topic.

Very very good! This is hopeful!

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
