    Forever Trapped

A young woman kneels beside an old man,
Softly reading from the pages in her hand,
Tears are heard in her voice,
As she quietly reveals what's in her heart.
Pain shows clearly on her face,
As she realizes he's understood not a word,
Her head bows low as her tears overflow,
And fall softly to the floor.
She leans close and gently kisses his cheek,
A tender 'I love you' is heard, as she stands to go,
Touching his face in a soft carress,
As her face reflects her heart once more.
Regret stings her for what went unsaid,
As she kisses the hand held in hers,
She'd give anything for him to hear,
What's now forever trapped within her heart.
As she leaves, she turns once more,
A single tear falling from her eye,
A wave of love washes over her,
For the man who doesn't see her go.

    heart wrenching, good read

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
