    Poem Commentary

Wrote this for my grandparents 47th wedding anniversary, which they celebrated together last Saturday Nov 24th.

    Fourty-seven Years and Counting

    Oh the days in counting,
When years have come and gone,
Each blessed day we have together,
Leaves a spot in the heart and mind.

Thank you for the years of preaching,
Thank you for the years of teaching,
Giving back and learning from the children
    in which we share.

So here's one more year to us,
To share our joy, love, faith, and family,
In hopes for many more to come and love
    to live out our days.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
