    Freedom from within

Wide open spaces as far as the eyes can see

Into the distance I look, but not knowing what will be

    Free to think…

    Free to dream….

    Free to feel…

    Yet

    Not knowing what is true

    and questioning what is real

    No gates

    No walls

    No divisions of the heart

    Your life begins

    But

    Where do you start?

You Think of times past, the future and of long ago

Will these things be your hope, or of things you do not know?

    Friendships

    Romance

    Passion

All of these things fill your heart

    Your life begins

    And yet

    Where do you start?

    No gates

    No walls

    No divisions of the heart

Your life begins, but where do you start?

All of these feelings burn within your soul

To stay where you are, or will one move on

Do they walk with you today

    And then tomorrow be gone

    Darkness, finally becomes light

Will they leave you all alone? ….

It was a warm night in Claxton when I saw you un-dividing your heart. You can always decide tomorrow...

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
