    Here I am

I throw a line, you reel me in,
you take me in with just a grin.

I turn around and then I find,
all it was, was just a grind.

You looked at me and said it was real,
but when I looked, it was just a feel.

From what I thought could be my future,
what was in your eyes was a lure.

And in my distress, I found egress.

Then i had to escape from here,
to see where my future will revere.

And then I look upon my past,
and see my future for what it is.

    My life, My children

What an easy poem to read and understand... Some poems you can tell the poet had to force their rymes but this one is smooth and flows very nicely. Great write!

    Nice

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
