Here I Stand

Poem Commentary

For the the only hope in my life,Hope Ohlarik

Here I Stand

Here I stand watching her walk away

Knowing that she will come back some day

Some day will not come soon enough when it does come

And I wish I was there and out of this emotional slum

I see her face and wish I could once more hear her voice

I hope I could tell them that it was their fault she made this choice

That she didn't walk away

She ran from the cold, bitter words that she heard every day

From the false hope and hate that was so freely given to her

That she cries with her face buried in soft wolf's fur

It kills me to know that she won't laugh now

And that she might forget how

I'll wait, listening to the bitter words and feeling the hate

Keeping the hope she will come back until late

So until then here I'll stand

Watching the road and wishing they would understand that they drove my Hope away 'till the day

It will be THEM watching ME walk away

So for now here I stand

a very emotionally charged piece. i can feel your sadness when i read your words. making your emotions come through in your words is the key to a great poem. and that is exactly what you did in this one.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
