    Heroes

Don't you ever find it quite absurd,
Just how many heroes are in this world?
    Batman, Superman, Spiderman too.
But I only had one super hero,
    And that, Dad, is you.

You used your' cloak to keep me warm.
Not giving a thought to if it would be torn.
And your' X-Ray vision kept me out of danger,
I seen you use it, around every stranger.

I even witnessed your super-human strength.
Holding me in line, when I was in contempt.
Flying into danger, and always to save me,
Rescuing me with your words of wisdom,
Although at the time, I thought you were crazy.

And even when i thought i knew it all,
You'd fly down and catch me, every time I'd fall.
    You were always out fighting,
For my truth, my justice, my liberty.
But never once, did you make me feel like I hindered thee

    And now I'm a Super-Hero too.
The fights just beginning, the battles anew.
I hope I can do it as good as you,
On second thoughts, a side-kick would do.

You know, you really made it look so easy.
To work all day and come home and please me.
Maybe some day, I'll be as good as you.
But today I'm happy, for just being your' side-kick will do

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
