I lay awake

I lay awake

I lay awake,
Tears pouring down my cheeks,
With no one here to care.
I wonder what you're going through,
If you've noticed I'm not there.
I hide my pain,
I must be strong,
For others' needs come first.
I stumble through life,
Not truly living,
Trying to beat this curse.
Enough is enough,
I can't take it any more,
I will win this fight.
Why bother chasing people,
Who never do what's right.
All I need,
Is someone who understands,
Who has suffered the unplanned.
Life is throwing all it's got,
I need you to take my hand.
A year from now,
I hope I've found,
A way in which I can see.
Looking past all the obstacles,
And finding how to be free.
I hope I learn,
That I'm just on life's journey,
And learn to be happy.
To not be scared of what the future holds,
And to finally let me be me.
I lay awake,
Tears pouring down my cheeks,
With no one here to care.
I wonder what you're going through,
If you've noticed I'm not there.
I hide my pain,
I must be strong,
For others' needs come first.
I stumble through life,
Not truly living,
Trying to beat this curse.
Enough is enough,
I can't take it any more,
I will win this fight.
Why bother chasing people,
Who never do what's right.
All I need,
Is someone who understands,
Who has suffered the unplanned.
Life is throwing all it's got,
I need you to take my hand.
A year from now,
I hope I've found,
A way in which I can see.
Looking past all the obstacles,
And finding how to be free.
I hope I learn,
That I'm just on life's journey,
And learn to be

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
