    I Thought About You

~I Wrote this poem for my father whom chose to go in a different direction with his life, and forget about me, his first born. My inspiration for this poem is him. --To my mom whom I love with all my heart. The only person who has always helped me to take the right path in life. She's the best, and I thank her for believing in me and everything I do...I love you and thank you mom.~

    I thought about you
When I was just a small child
You said you had to go away
Then you left me crying in the backyard.

    I thought about you
When I was only a couple years older
About all the promises you made,
And all the promises you broke.

    I thought about you
    Again as I grew
Brought you on the family trip
Only to discover you never gave a s---.

    I thought about you
    About three years ago
You said I could see you whenever I wanted
But you left me there crying once again.

    I thought about you
The day of my "Sweet Sixteen"
Now I'm eighteen soon to be nineteen
    And still, I haven't heard a word.

    I think about you
    All of the time
And I wonder how you can live everyday
Not knowing whether or not I'm ok.

~I have lived my life without you, and I know now that as I grow older that you would never have been able to teach me the things that you, as my father, should have taught me. And now as I grow older I thank you for not being a part of my life. I don't think I would have wanted to grow up going back and forth between the mother that I love and the father that I never got a real chance to love.
"Anyone can be a father, but it takes a special man to be a daddy"
I don't have a daddy! But thank you for being my father and for constantly making me cry by leading me on to believe that you wanted to be my daddy. I honestly believe that you are the one who made me into the person that I am today.~

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
