    Keeping You Away

You were the best I had
That’s why it hurt so bad
    To say good-bye to you
And tell you that we’re through

    You messed up my head
    Like you said you would
    I should have listened
    I didn’t think you could

    Damn I trusted you
And gave you some of my heart
All you told me was lies
    And tore my heart apart

You said that you loved me
But I knew it couldn’t be true
    I’m young and I’m dumb
Because I thought I loved you too

But it turned out that all I loved was the lies
And when it hurt to say good-bye
And when you hurt me until I cry
And then I sit and wonder why

    Why do you hurt me?
Why do you make me sad?
    Why don’t you love me?
    Like you said you had
    Why do we argue?
    Why do we fight?
    Why can’t we figure out
    Who’s wrong from right?
    Why are you running?
    What scares you to stay?
    Please tell me why
    What is keeping you away?
