Leave

I'm stuck inside this empty room,
Afraid to leave.
I don't know how this happened to me ,
I'm Afraid to leave.
A cold chill runs up my back,
I let out a sigh and start to relax,
But I'm Afraid to leave.
I'm Scared that all I've accomplished will be gone,
I'll have to leave, But I'm too scared to leave.
I have taken a blow, and my body has bowed out.
I should have left, and now I can.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
