Lost and Found

I remember the first kiss,
the feelings it made evolve,
but such a fool I was in this,
I'd fallen into what they call love.

I did not think my heart was fragile,
I did not think of what was to come,
what was to come was oh so tragic;
I waited for love while I cried alone.

With that first kiss I sparked desire,
my mind surrendered thought and sense
and though my heart had not grown tired
I knew that soon I'd see an end.

From that day on I knew no happiness,
everything seemed black and gray,
little did I know that this mess
would never haunt me another day.

I learned the hard way through pain and tears,
to never ever lose my faith
and then someone fought my fears,
someone who watched along the way.

It was no mother, friend or sister,
though he also lives in them,
It was the voice of hope in a whisper
that led me back onto this earth.

He said "I've seen your sorrow and distress
day by day leave you with less,
as you just said I can’t believe it,
I can’t believe how much it hurts."

To this I answered in plain anger
"Where have you been through all this mess?"
He said "Returning from the darkness,
to which by you I was condemned"
and as we merged I heard him whisper
"You lost me when you lost your faith"
