One More Thought

One More Thought

Today you crossed my mind again,

The pain followed shortly after;

As usual you bring disaster

With these memories I cannot tame.

I remembered the times we shared,

I remembered all the laughter,

And I thought about the chapters

Of the novels we could have made.

But your heart is mine no longer,

You have a new keeper in mind,

And to me you’re no longer kind,

Your mind of me doesn’t wonder.

I’ll think of you now and then,

Maybe that will bring you closer,

And though it’s not me you have chosen

I will always be your friend.

So I’ll be here until the end,

Until all the lights have gone out,

Until you have no doubt

That your heart is mine to mend.

Now I face another winter

Without your fire in my heart,

While I watch myself fall apart

As you grow everyday more distant.

I guess I’ll keep to myself,

Turning my thoughts into song

Wondering what I did wrong

That killed everything you felt.

Now I see you everywhere

And your memory still lingers,

Slowly igniting the cinders

Of the fire I once felt.

I will bring this poem to an end

For I can’t stand the pain any longer,

But know that I will always wonder

When to me you will return.

I am glad you like it :) We all at some point in life feel like no one can understand what we are going through, but if we stop to think, we realize that we are all human, and we all feel happiness and sorrow, and out of the 7 billion brothers and sisters, someone HAS to relate to what we are feeling, someone HAS to be going through this as well. I do put a lot of emotion into my writing, my writing comes from my heart, my imagination and my experiences.
