Lost in the void

Lost in the void

Having fallen through the darkness,
For years never seeing the light,
The path ahead opens to the morning,
As night gives up the fight.

Once so pure, so clean
Now is tainted with fear, with greed.
Caring only to make her life better,
No longer looking at the big screen.

Starting over in an alienous place,
Searching for the piece to fill her heart,
Looking for what she doesn't know,
Just knowing it can't be far.

Finding nothing but pain at every turn,
Losing hope of anything good,
Turning her back on all she's learned,
Never minding where she stood.

Hearing empty promises,
Holding on to broken truths,
Crying as dark engulfs her,
Stiff as a statue at dawn til after noon.
