LOST

Standing naked
Nothing left to hide
All my secrets, my lies, exposed
Yet my face bares no shame

Have I forgave myself
Or I have forgiven others
Have I been desensitized
To the point of losing myself,
my being, my wholeness
as a human

My arms stretched out
My head tilted back
My mind, heart and soul,
all join in, in perfect harmony
as I scream to the heavens

What has happened to me,
Why can I not feel this pain
Why can I not hurt

Have I committed such hideous crimes
against my fellow man,
against the Savior of my soul,
That I have been condemned
to feel no more

With no answer,
I drop to my knees,
My eyes are hollow,
Hollow like those of the old man,
who sees no future
And remembers no past.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
