    MA MERE

    My memories can see
    the face of a lady
    who was queen

    HER smile made my life
    a joy, her scorn would
    strike like lightening

    Her spirit was unmatched
    and like a harnessed maverick
    she struggled to be free

Her lips so red, her skin
    so fair, the Aurora Borealis
    was dimmed by her reflection

    Like shifting sand
    the present comes
    upon me

    The queen has metamorhposized
    the rainbow has
    turned gray

    She sits there old and
    broken as life has
    trampled through her

    Watching, waiting, remembering
    how it was, afraid of
    how it will be

Now MY smile is her joy

In memory of my Mother who passed May 17 1980
