    My Day

    I pick up your socks
from their usual place on the floor.
    I wipe off the dirt
that your fingerprints leave on the door.
    I put up your tools
that you leave lying out everywhere.
    I scrub out the toilet
(and baby, we don't want to go there).
    I wash all your clothes
including the ones black with grease.
    I wash up your dishes
which by the way, never cease.
    And when you come home
you will kiss me and then you will say,
    "I'll bet that you never
even thought of me one time today".

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
