Tiffany

Tiffany waits patiently by the back yard fence,
waiting for Jenna to come and play.
What Jenna told her yesterday didn't make much sense.
Maybe Jenna would change her mind today.

Tiffany, I can't play with you anymore.
Daddy says we gotta move away where people like you don't live next door.
Tiffany, I can't play with you anymore.

Mama says, now Tiffany, honey don't cry.
You know you'll find another friend.
Maybe someone else that will be more our kind,
and you'll be smiling once again.

Tiffany, I can't play with you anymore.
Daddy says we gotta move away where people like you don't live next door.
Tiffany, I can't play with you anymore.

Tiffany sits quietly on the porch today,
watching as Jenna is passing by.
Jenna waits till Daddy is looking the other way.
Then she waves goodbye with tears in her eyes.

Tiffany, I can't play with you anymore.
Daddy says we gotta move away where people like you don't live next door.
Tiffany, I can't play with you anymore.

I agree with crush this is very nice and very sad. It is something I have dealt with several times in my life and every time the pain cuts a little deeper. I am glad someone had the guts to expose this kind of thing.

very nice and quite sad. it is ALWAYS appropriate to espose racism and/or intolerance. nice write.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
