My Firstborn

My Firstborn

I was young and the pregnancy unplanned.
I was guided by my God, held tightly in His hand.
I knew I wasn't ready to call myself a mom...
but time was moving quickly, much like a ticking bomb.

I had to find a family to love her like their own...
to welcome as their daughter into their loving home.
I set about my task with a heavy heart,
reading all the profiles, not knowing where to start.

Thanks to the help of my loving family and my heavenly Father above,
I found my daughter's family, ready and waiting to give her their love.
God was able to use my immaturity and gross lack of prevention...
and in so doing allowed me to witness His divine intervention.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
