My Restless Nights

My Restless Nights

To my plundered mind...

As with sense of directions

With anger in the air

Make lovers of this confessions

Twas night it was-eyes wide open,

Lack of sleep I was, put truth to my indication

With loss of love-now thinking of hate

With violent thought-now screaming re-take

What brought this love so soon?

This I ask with agony

What brought this pain?

This will usher in samphony.

But with love-now I long to see it more

And with this hope-this will bring happiness For sure

This very sad but hopeful. Sometimes it is scary to be hopeful, when the heart has been broken:)

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
