    My Truth

    I must tell my truth.

I do like you, have for a long time.

I have since the beginning, when we met.

When I'm around you, I mime.

I wish that you were mine.

Sorry, I said it so late.

    I will never whine.

Wish you would be my date.

I don't know how you feel,

But I will like you forever.

    Can we have a meal?

    I think you are clever.

    Now, you've heard my truth.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
