    " It’s Gotta Get Better "

I've drank from a glass half full but yet i still thirst, its as if i cant quinch mines

I reach my mind out for answers from the one whom gave me birth, but yet momma cant answer it all !

Now momma dont cry for me, water to expensive to waste, i just search for something so close i can taste

But i cant feel, so i stand still as i watch myself fall into something we've all know better than to do

But yet keep repeating these same mistakes as if we'll make it thru,

Now aint no yellow brick roads where im from just gravel and dirt and lessons to learn

And lord knows i've cried myself to sleep a many time, just cant seem to do enough, to as they say "to get mine"

but its gotta get better !

cant seem to get a grip on how the world say i should be

cant look in the mirror the reflection confuses her & me,

So much fear in her eyes i cry when my relection upsets her,

Don't want to think it can get any worse, so its gotta get better !

I think this has a very strong message behind it. The rhythm of the poem and the grammar could perhaps be cleaned up a bit. I like the line "Now aint no yellow brick roads..." There's some very strong emotion in this poem as well. I think perhaps if you went back and clarified what you were trying to say a little, it might help. If you'd like to message me, I'd be willing to help you out or whatever (sorry, I'm in school to teach and offering help is kind of a habit. Don't take offense or anythi

Spoken1 It's not the kind of poetry I like, but I think the last four lines are real good. As well as the mother imagery in the first part of the poem. The stronger the imagery the better the poem for me. I like a lot of concretes and less abstracts for the most part. Images are concretes. So the mirror images are strong for me. and the metaphor of (her and me) which is reflection and person or mom and daughter. That is real strong.

    Thank You

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
