    "Falling Star"

    Time, an empty space,
infinite with stars of the past,
    and of our present,
    uncertain for a bright future.

    Stars permeate the universe,
    uncelebrated forms of life,
    and inevitable death,
    thrown in an apathetic galaxy.

    Heavens, somewhat inanimate,
    continually embraces each loss,
    and through  light,
    stars exemplify its ghost.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
