    Running to Fast

All spun out here I sit
    Once again asking God why
Saying "just one more time, that is it"
All I can hear is my mothers cry

Running as wild as the wind can blow
My life I really want to keep
Calm down learn to  take it slow
May the eagle inside of me someday sleep

As the sun rises on another day
    I have yet another chance
To let the fire just go away
Or keep it around for another dance

Running to fast for way to long
Forgetting for what I once stood
Living life like a rock and roll song
Doing alright but not always good

Not knowing how to just settle down
Something I just can't seem to learn
On the drugs I put some kind of crown
Everyday praying for one more turn

My problem no longer in denial
My head clearer now you can bet
Once again able to really smile
But for now with a group I must set

For my addiction I pray you do not judge me
    You cannot understand it's hold
Please take time to think and see
For even me it left in the cold

The years went in such a short time
Running a race I could never win
On the drug spending my last dime
Now ashamed tired of the sin

Looking to find a stronger me
    Another side calm and good
That is who I really need to see
Try and remember for what I once stood

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
