    Seasoned

Spring, now a recent fond memory, etched in our minds
Caressing warmth across our dreary faces it had brought
Leaving dread of last winter’s taut grasp far off behind
Giving hope and joyfulness turning to life’s better thoughts

Summer jaunts in and our weary hearts pound out a cheer
Giving permission to cast off the harsh bonds of indoors
The cricket’s sweet songs each nighttime magically appear
Morning’s warm sunlight seeps, unhurriedly, into our pours

Thoughts of nocturnal bliss soon comes our way, we sleep
In arms we have missed, again surrounded with that warmth
The refuge we seek once again, our minds longing to keep
Distant pasts in the present, rekindling lost hearts hearth

Fires again burn bright, ignite passions not readily forgotten
Moving forward tho’ nothing has changed, but remained
Constant, enlightened, with past encounters we have gotten
Bringing us to this new place now shared, again refrained
