    Voice of Choice

Just wanted to hear your voice
    Not out of choice
More like the air that I breathe
    Out of clear need
    That I can’t really explain
    That keeps me sane

    Words evaporate into thin air
    As some mutely stare
    Wondering much too hard
    Keep up their guard
    Lest they say something
    They know may sting

Now’s our time to banish fear
    It doesn’t belong here
    Where our lives now collide
    Nowhere can we hide
    Except within a private prison
    Devised by our derision

Honesty and love is our savior
    Ruling our behavior
    Needs met, with no regrets
    Despite the cigarettes
1 too many, 100 not enough
    Making together tough

Seems you take my breath away
    In the way you sway
    Always with the right reason
    No matter the season
    Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall
    In this our lifelong thrall
