    Snared Into Happiness

    A drumming
    beats relentlessly
    in my chest

    hearing
    this centered song -
    makes it all different

    this happy chorus,
dances like an aria of radiance,
    filling me with
    a dazzling light --

    its eternal rhythms
    hold secrets
    to wondrous
    and weary
    to behold

    some bands around
    my neck
    are chained to
    worldly desires
    that
    echo melodiously
    in my ear

    but that happy silence
    eternally drums
    hums and rattles
    still
    pouring out
    sounds of freedom --
    and always awake
    just around each corner
    ---
    A happy freedom
    is alive within
    each atom --
    A freedom
    alive within
    each breath.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
