    Sober Eyes

    How do I look?
    Through sober eyes?
    Like a person you love?
Or like some thug you despise?
    Am I sober support?
Or do I drive you to poison?
    Just like them Sirens
    Drove those Odyssey boys in
    Yeah your bottle is singing
And it wants you to listen
    Perched on your step
    Between sips reminiscing
    About that strong steady woman
    About that person you were
    About the person I was
Before I was the one that you hurt
Now I'm sick of all the hiding
So tired of all the lies
    Told through them two smiling
    Inebriated eyes

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
