trying to survive in this life--takes a lot
rising above the bullshit-- struggling to
fit perfection's slot
surviving the scrutiny--surviving the failures &
hoping to pull through even though disaster seems to
surviving critical peers--resisting temptation
fighting our demons
facing waves of challenges like accomplished
surviving the betrayals--the disappointments
those who choose to bring us harm
yet we will hold our heads up--using our wit
& charm
surviving broken families--tattered memories
a sketchy past
like savages in a jungle-- we fight each battle as if it
was our last
surviving the cruelty of strangers--surviving near
surviving an existence--without the regret
we can stand above--we will continue to stay alive
just remember that only the strong survive

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
