Poem Commentary

So when I started to write this it was about something, but it turned into sounding like it was about something else....haha.

Take a Stand

Why'd you do it?
You should've learned,
From the first time,
That you'd get burned

It's a cold, hard world,
You gotta save yourself,
From the flames around you.
There's no easy way out.

So why'd ya do it?
You should've learned,
From the first time,
That you'd get burned.

Now, hun, dont get me wrong,
I understand
But I could've helped you,
Take....
Take a stand!

I was young,
Slightly Naive.
I thought it'd be fun
Girl, but wait and see

I didn't learn--no!
I couldn't see,
What my actions,
Had done to me.

Why'd I do it?
I should've learned.
From the first time,
That I'd get burned

I may seem fine, now,
But you wouldnt believe
What I did,
Hunny, dont be me.

Why'd you do it?
You should've learned.
From the first time,
That you'd get burned

Hun, dont get me wrong,
I understand.
Cause I could've helped you,
Take...
TAKE A STAND.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
