The fear of death and the death of fear

The necromantic image that you head for every day,
in no way ascertains an unhealthy obsession with the smell of doom,
and just because no one really understands,
and they give you a wide berth when you walk into a room.

Understand the fear for what it is, though it doesn't make much sense,
no one really, truly wants to die,
and even though they still don't understand,
is it really worth it to try?

You can't expunge it, it's ingrained in genetic codes,
and still no one wants to hear,
but once you eradicate the fear of death, it stands to reason,
that you also bring about the death of fear.

So now you know why, though i don't look forward,
to the day the reaper comes to collect my weary soul,
that i've come to grips with the stage in which i live,
and grown comfortable in my role.
