    The Long Wait

    The Long Wait

The anxiety is building awaiting this flight,

My heart is pounding, my breathing heavy.

This trip will be a great change in  my life,

You’ve made this transition something easy.

I had built a wall so tall and strong,

Never thinking so easily it would crumble

Never knowing such a man would come along.

Now I feel loved, cared for and oh so humble.

    The adventures we are planning,

The traditions and memories to make.

It comes from all our love of learning,

It comes from us knowing how to give and take.

We’ve found our soul mates and our lover,

Our best friend and loving mate.

We found that this is like no other,

We know now why we had the long wait.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
