    The Search

I have walked the earth, through every forest
    Forever did I search
Across the seas, up mountains, throught deserts,
    This whole entire earth

I searched for forgiveness and I hoped for peace
    And everlasting love
From someone, anyone that I'd meet
    But I didn't look above

    Every woman, man and child
    I asked along the way
    I feel I've walked a million miles
    On any given day

I asked "Please help me find the one
    This person that I seek.
I want the one and only Son."
These words that I did speak.

"He is up there on that mountain,"
    A woman said to me
I climbed and climbed and could not make
My way up there to see

    "Look there underneath that tree."
A man told me one day
I looked and looked but did not see
So I went my very way

The child pointed to the sea
Said I would find Him there
I did not think that it could be
    He wasn't anywhere

    I sat very quietly there
At the edge of the sea
And then I heard "I am here."
    I wondered, "Could it be?"

I turned around and He was there
The One that I did seek
I never thought I'd find Him here
    Staring back at me

"Teacher I've searched near and far
I searched so high and low."
"Did you search there in your heart,
    Or in your very soul?"

"Through every step I've been with you.
    And every single question.
As each one told you what to do
I watched you take each task on."

"But Master, you hid yourself from me
    And I looked everywhere
I looked and looked but did not see
My prayers you did not hear."

"Ah, yes my child, I did hear.
    Your every word I heard
And so I had them lead you here.
So now you heed my words."

So this promise I did make
    To the Father up above
To follow Him for my own sake
And take comfort in His love

KeeLee, you had a very powerful message here and put some profound images on the page, just felt like you fell into the greeting card pothole every now and then. Sharpen up your pen, eraser in hand and tighten this one up. It deserves it.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
