    This Mask I Wear

This mask I wear makes people happy
It hides my mood when I feel crappy
It makes me seem that I'm a clown
When deep inside I'm feeling down

When all I want is to be left alone
To cry and scream and throw the phone
To beat the pillows and stomp my feet
To hold my breath 'til I'm as red as a beet

I want to punch holes in walls
Or chop a tree until it falls
I want to yell until I lose my voice
Or something else... whatever... my choice

But nope I'll just sit here and smile
And chat and laugh a longer while
And keep these feelings bottled up
"Til I can pour them in my cup

I smiled at your poem, for some reason, it made me feel Dr Suez was watching over your shoulder as you wrote. Keep on writing - its fun to read.

Day will come when the mask we wear will no longer be there!

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

    Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
