The Wonder and Bewilderment of You

I think as I get older and wiser, of all my friends and family of all my past loves and lovers, I did not hold on just a little longer, hug a little harder and kiss more tender.
Myself, I never thought worthy of what I had to offer and refused to accept what was laid out before me, and cowered in a world of my own
When I was with you, I became myself never pretending, never boasting, always giving and sometimes taking.
When I was with you, a mystery arose, a fragment of my heart became a part of you heart and we were content. Was that love, that desire to blend, to comfort you somehow? I would like to pretend you always loved me. That was not true. I know it as I write today.
I think of anyone who has been in my thoughts, you will remain always in my heart. I think if we would have had just a little more time, you would have been all mine. That was my selfish desire, that was my dream.

Sissy I feel as if I could have written this poem--the message is so familiar. But I didnt write it--you did and very beautifully.

Poetry is what is lost in translation.
